Two Canoes is Vanuatu’s newest eco-responsible boutique accommodation.
This sustainable micro-resort is a hidden gem located on the secluded Aimbuei Bay on Aore Island, just a 10 minute boat ride from central Luganville. Two Canoes is easy to get to but so hard to leave!
Opening in late 2016, Two Canoes has been designed with the environment and local community in mind. The property is fully self sustainable and relies solely on solar power, harvested rainwater and an eco-friendly waste system for its operation. Owner Mark has ensured that the Two Canoe’s staff is made up of Ni-Vanuatu community members to support local job opportunities and ensure you have a unique cultural experience during your stay – a true Vanuatu experience!
Set amongst a back drop of swaying coconut palm plantations, Two Canoes has an absolute beach front location. The white sandy beach of Aimbuei Bay is the perfect place to relax or enjoy a delicious organic meal from the breezy Beachfront Restaurant fare. As you look out over the crystal clear water, and nearby Tutuba and Bokissa islands, you will feel like you are in your own private paradise with no other man-made structure in sight. However, for those that do wish to touch base with the world there is wifi available.
Spend a cool, comfortable night in one of Two Canoes four elevated Plantation Studios. With ocean views and louvered windows and bi-folding glass frontage, you can catch the sea breeze and enjoy the beach from your bed. The studios are bright and spacious featuring a private sun deck, modern Scandinavian influenced furnishings, and can be configured to either queen or single twin share. The ensuite is clean and contemporary with a rain shower, hand-carved wooden vanity and flush toilet.
Each studio is built to Australian safety standards and uses durable building materials that can withstand a category 5 tropical cyclone. Their clever design strategically makes the most of their surrounds allowing them to lower their carbon footprint, ensuring you have a tranquil, guilt-free stay.
Enjoy some of Santo’s best local produce at the Beachfront Restaurant + Bar – during your stay you will probably see the fishing boats pull into the beach to sell their day’s catch! Two Canoe’s talented chef uses local ingredients to create delicious but healthy meals that showcase the best of Vanuatu’s organic produce. Enjoy fresh lobster, crab, deep sea fish, Santo’s famous beef or fresh seasonal salads accompanied by wine, beer or one of Two Canoe’s creative cocktails from the bar.
For those who prefer a more active holiday, there is snorkeling straight of the beach, sea kayaks, stand up paddle boards and bicycles for guest use. Otherwise unwind on the beach or relax in one of the hammocks strung up under the shady trees that fringe the beach.
If you have a special event coming up – like a wedding, birthday or just a long overdue catch up, Two Canoes is available for exclusive hire. Two Canoes will ensure you have an unforgettable time with their amazing tem and venue at your disposal. A dedicated event coordinator is also available for an even more stress-free experience.
