rah beach bungalows
As the name suggests, Rah Beach Bungalows sits on absolute beach front.
It is located on one of Rah Island’s white sandy beaches facing the lagoon that separates Rah and Motolava Islands. It is easy to reach the bungalows by either a short ride in the outrigger canoe-taxi or a walk across the sandbank at low tide.
These traditional Ni-Vanuatu style bungalows are owned by Barton Wosei and his family. The local materials of the bungalows will help you stay cool during the tropical nights and are clean and comfortable with an ocean view, shared bathroom facilities and mosquito protection.
All meals are prepared in a traditional kitchen and you can expect to be served fresh organic Melanesian-style food such as local seafood, tropical fruits and vegetables harvested straight from the garden, plus Ni-Vanuatu staple dishes such as laplap and simboro. For special occasions you may even be treated to a BBQ on the beach – an experience not to be missed! A delicious breakfast is included with your accommodation and additional meals are available on request.
Rah Island is a small community and Barton will be happy to take you on a tour of the village and or organize to visit some of the local tours. You can swim directly in front of the bungalows and snorkel among the coral – you can even try your hand at local style fishing. Barton will also be happy to accompany to church on Sunday morning at a nearby village in Motolava.
Not only will you be warmly welcomed by the women of the Rah Women’s Society on arrival but you will also be given special farewell with a song accompanied by local string band and fresh salu-salu (flower lei) as thanks from the community for visiting their home.
